AMERICA IN DECLINE: TRUMP'S FAULT?

The scenes were surreal and packed enough shock value to disgust elites from both sides of the political divide and the whole world as well. I am talking about the invasion of the Capitol building by disgruntled Trump supporters who have not accepted the fact that President Trump is on his way out despite getting over 70 million votes. Their brief invasion managed to halt Congress proceedings but it did not stop the verification of the votes that set in motion the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th President on January 20th, 2021 whether they like it or not. Vice President Mike Pence looked resolute even as he read the results that meant he was fired from the job after four bumpy years as Trump’s assistant. Credit to him for sticking to principle instead of blind loyalty.

What is clear is that the USA is more divided and it will be so as we head out of a terrible pandemic. The USA is getting weaker as a result of its political divisions and this has made it vulnerable to an attack via its technologies like the one by Russian intelligence during its 2016 election. While no country can stand up to the USA in military combat, it is vulnerable to other forms of attack that are aimed at deepening its divisions. Russia showed the world that the so-called powerful democracy is not immune to the political ravages that affect other systems worldwide. The same political divisions led to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and should Trump supporters feel aggrieved that the systems are shutting them out, they might opt to secede. The next four years will see more of this division that is being fuelled by hateful media personalities, with Fox News expected to be the attack on the incoming Biden Administration after four years of being Trump’s lapdog.

Economically, the USA is losing out to China, which is in a position to imperil the US economy in ways that the Soviet Union could not. The Chinese government holds more than ten trillion dollars in US government debt and its industries manufacture more than the US, which keeps on shipping more jobs here and leaving out many Americans without work. Chinese cyber-attacks on US industries are wreaking havoc on them with the FBI advising the US government to do more to tackle them. With Trump, there was hope but with the election of a Chinese puppet Biden into office, the gains made will be reversed. On the global stage, US influence is waning and their military is unable to get decisive victories in the wars they participate in despite the advantages of technology at its disposal. Their people are getting fat and are becoming stupid thanks to feminism and poor diets. Hollywood is producing dumber movies while propagating nonsensical social justice themes in its movies. Are these the signs of the end of the USA as the sole superpower?

I could be right or wrong.
